Thai ethnic group has the population of over 1 million mainly concentrated in
the northern mountainous provinces and in some areas of the Central Highlands
Vietnam. Thai people appeared in Vietnam millions years ago and often resided on
the banks of large rivers or streams. Thai ethnic minority groups in Vietnam
have their own language and script with the diverse folklore involving legends,
folk songs, poetries, literatures, regulations, etc. Some of them have been well
preserved. Thai people love singing and dancing. They own many special
traditional dances which have been performed in many stages and attracted the
attention of both domestic and international friends. The most famous handmade
product of Thai ethnic group is brocade with colorful and special patterns.
Besides, performance of Thai ethnic costumes and traditional sport activities
will create a wonderful opportunity for domestic and foreign tourists to enjoy
and explore Thai culture. Exciting activities such as a performance of
traditional Thai cuisine, an exhibition to display and promote Thai cultural and
tourism products; an introduction of Thai family story and Thai cultural
heritage... will be organized in the festival. Simultaneously, Lai Chau tourist
destinations like Sin Ho, Vang Pheo, Ban Hon, San Thanh,
Pu Sam Cap also were prepared
for welcoming tourists.
This is also a good chance for travel guides and collaborators to enhance their
skills and the quality services. Being known as a potential province for
Eco-tourism, in 2013, Lai Chau welcomed approximately 150,000 turns of visitors.
Hosting Thai Ethnic Cultural Festival is a great occasion for Lai Chau to
promote and attract domestic and foreign travelers visiting. The opening
ceremony will take place tonight December 27th in People Square, Lai Chau City.
