Heading out of town , we make our way north to the historical
cave of Pac Po where Ho Chi Minh set up the headquarter for the August
Vietnamese Revolution in 1945. After seeing this vestige site we continue our
journey past the many hill villages and the tranquil town of Dong Khe and That
Khe. This border town
had been all destroyed during the recent war. | |

formations that soar above the verdant rice paddies of the surrounding farms of
local ethnic minorities. Along the way, you will see Tay, Hmong and Dzao ethnic

Leave Phong Tho for Sapa. The road is a bit bumpy at times, but
the rough route is quickly compensated by the magnificent scenery: yawning
valleys, winding rivers, and towering mountains – a photographer’s dream. The
drive to Sapa takes you up Tram Ton – the highest pass in Vietnam. | |

An early start today for the journey from Ha Gaing to Bac Ha.
This is a long but exciting journey along some of the most scenic roads you will
encounter on your trip. You will need to make a prompt departure from Ha Giang
to make sure you reach Bac Ha before it gets dark. | |

We then continue onward on a climb of 15 km up to the top of
the Ma Pi Leng Pass, through a maze of lime huge peaks, which look almost like
‘stone forests’, and canyons the like of which you will not see anywhere else in
the world. We then head down into the valley of Meo Vac before winding through
the mountains and across the river. | |
