Mai Hich village is a less known destination in Mai Chau region of
Hoa Binh
province, northwest Vietnam. Mai Hich is about four hour drive from
Hanoi city
and about a half hour drive from Lac, Poom Coong village.
While Mai Chau has bacame a hot, popular place for both Vietnamese and foreign
tourists for many years, Mai Hich village is just a new destination for those
looking an off the beaten path experience in Vietnam.
Mai Hich is enriched with the fascinating indigenous cultures of the Thai and
Muong ethnic populations, as well as the regions beautiful mountainous landscape
and special local food.
Traveling to Mai Hich village, you should plan two days at least since it
already takes 4 hour drive from Hanoi to Mai Hich. The area offers different
activities which could keep you busy for two or three days. There are such
activities as trekking, cycling, river rafting, music and dance performances…
In terms of accommodation, the best choice you have is spending a night at local
home (homestay). There are now three stilts houses which can lodge up to forty
people at night. The mattress is comfortable and fits basic standard. The
toilets are located outside the house. |
