A small town lying at 20 kilometres from Dong Van suburban district and 117
kilometres away from Ha Giang township, Pho Bang – a bustling border town –
seemed to be forgotten in a few decades.
To reach Pho Bang old town, you travel about 5 km from the junction to Sung La,
passing a small pass then you’ll get this peaceful town.
Pho Bang says “hello” to you with beautiful gardens of fragrant roses in the
background of greenery of mountains.
Here live mainly groups of H’Mong and Chinese people. The small town of Pho Bang
has only a dozen houses, which are scattered on the main road and a few small
branches. So you’ll imagine this tranquil land like a beautiful young sleeping
woman among wild mountains. Sometimes you’ll see some peach flower blossom
rather late. Or you may catch a mesmerizing view of infinite white plum flowers
blooming under the rustic roofs.

The most impressive things here are not only clay-made houses are over 100 years
old, with old wooden doors and old parallel sentences in Chinese scripts. Quiet
small valleys will lull you with its incredibly dreaming atmosphere. Several
ancient houses stand deeply in the valleys with a slow lifestyle.
The houses hide under the shadow of thousands of pine trees, making a peaceful
scene that seems to never change over time or looming behind glorious yellow
borecole fields, the houses give you shots of the picturesque scene.
Like other lands of
Dong Van rock plateau, the life of locals here is quite poor
in this barren land, so people regard the soil as their gold of life.
In this border town, the village mingles with the soul of nature, it’s a slow,
smooth, and peaceful small world.
