Hoang Lien National Park is a Vietnamese national park established in 2002,
located at an altitude of 1,000-3000m above sea level and on the Hoang Lien Son
mountain range in Than Uyen,
Phong Tho
districts of Lai Chau
province and Sa Pa of
Lao Cai
province. Before being recognized as a national park, this area was a nature
reserve named Hoang Lien-Sa Pa Nature Reserve since 1996. Hoang Lien National
Park was established. was established under Decision No. 90/2002/QD-TTg of the
Prime Minister on July 12, 2002, on the transformation of Hoang Lien-Sa Pa
Nature Reserve into Hoang Lien National Park.
Hoang Lien National Park has been selected as a Center for Diversity of Plants
in the Plant Conservation Program of the World Union for Conservation of Nature
(IUCN). The park is also classified by the Global Environment Fund as class A,
the most advanced in terms of biodiversity value of Vietnam. In 2006, Hoang Lien
National Park was recognized as an ASEAN Heritage Park.
From the tourist town of Sapa, visitors go through a winding slope about 20km,
visitors will come to
O Quy Ho pass - Hoang Lien pass, this place belongs to the
National Park. Continuing to follow the winding trail around the mountainside at
an altitude of over 1,000m above sea level, visitors will fully cover the

Hoang Lien National Park - one of the important special-use forests of Vietnam
has a total core area of 29,845 ha, including a system of high mountains in
the Hoang Lien Son range, including the 3,143m high Fansipan peak. and the
buffer zone area is 38,724 ha, including
Sa Pa town, some communes in Sa Pa
district, part of Van Ban district, Lao Cai province and 2 communes in Than Uyen
district, Lai Chau province.
Hoang Lien National Park is mainly primeval forest with a vegetation cover of
subtropical alpine subtropical evergreen forest and a rich and diverse forest
fauna.
In terms of forest flora, there are more than 2,000 species with typical woody
plants such as: sage, bodhi, rhododendron, pomu, wild plum..., of which there
are about 66 species listed in the list. Vietnam Red Book such as: green
cypress, thiet sam, bamboo pine, red pine, pine needle, chestnut ..., 32 rare
species such as: Green cypress species distributed in the limestone mountains of
Ban Ho commune (Sa Pa), species of red pine found in Sa Pa commune (Sa Pa),
species of Van Sam Hoang Lien - Cold Sam) distributed in the core zone of the
national park (these three species are the main raw materials used to extract
many kinds of plants). rare medicinal herbs) and hundreds of herbal species such
as: Quy, Thuc, Do Trong, Hoang Lien bird's foot, rhododendron, Kim Giao... In
addition, here people also find Ganoderma lucidum species, Sa Pa - distributed
mainly in the high mountain forests of China and Vietnam.
Besides a rich forest flora, the fauna of the forest is also very diverse with
66 species of mammals, the most common being: jet-black gibbon, hornbill,
langur, langur..., of which 16 species are located. in the Red Book of Vietnam;
347 bird species such as big spotted eagle, red-crested pheasant, yellow-billed
blackbird...; 41 species of amphibians and 61 species of reptiles, in which, a
very rare species of spiny frog in Vietnam has just been discovered.
With such a rich forest ecosystem, Hoang Lien National Park is considered as one
of the leading biodiversity centers in our country. In particular, this place
also preserves and preserves many traditional cultural beauties of the ethnic
communities living in the core and buffer zones of the National Park; that is
the music and dance activities of the Mong, Dao, Giay with musical instruments
such as: Khen, flute, trumpet, lute; The architecture of houses of ethnic
minorities such as: Hmong people live on high, the floor is usually lower and
airtight, the building materials are mainly made of wood, Tay people's houses
