Y Ty is one of the most attractive places near
Sapa, Lao Cai province. Located
in the mountainous area, 80km away from Sapa, landing deeply in the mountains, Y
Ty has become the best place to visit during summer time.
Some oversea magazines recently have choosen Y Ty as a top Viet Nam’s highest
plateau which offers spectacular views of cloud-reaching mountains and yellow
rice paddy fields. If you want to have an experience in rural Viet Nam without
staying far from the tourist centre of Sa Pa, this is your spot.
There are 2 ways to go to Y Ty, one is from
Lao Cai, passing to Lung Po via
Trinh Tuong, then through A Mu Sung before you reach Y Ty, you will go through
the paths which cut the jungle. The road is absolutely not easy and much
challenged. On the other hand, you can go to Y Ty from Sapa to
Muong Hum Market
then to Den Trang and and to Y Ty. This is the easier way, you can get to Y Ty
by car and your driver needs to drive very carefully as the road is slippery and
there are many sharp bends there.
If you are adventurous travellers, renting a motorbike to Y Ty from Sapa, is the
best way because you can control your speed.
Travelling to Y Ty, travellers will be amazed with spectacular scenery with
clouds, mountains, jungle and rice field. House of Ha Nhi Ethnic group is also
amazing. Attending colorful weekly market , you will see Ha Nhi women and girls
wearing big wigs round their heads or H’mong people with traditional clothes or
special head of Dzao women. All most all agricultural products sold at the
market are home and hand-made. You will also see the specific beauty of earth
houses which are considered as the best in Lao Chai communes.
There are not any hotels or guests houses in Y Ty but houses are basic and
simple, with limited water and electricity. It is very easy to book home stay
and you can book in advance or when you get there. Foreigners need to ask for
permission if they want to spend overnight in the village.
Food: This is the remote area and quite far from the centre, thus there are not
many specialties to enjoy but you can try to cook with food brought along. So,
you should bring all food you think is enough for days in Y Ty.
Weather here is different between day and night. Besides short clothes, you
should bring warm clothes or even sleeping bags. |
